Rev. Dr. Peter King-hung Lee, the first ethnic Chinese Director of Christian Study Centre on Chinese Religion and Culture (serving from 1974 to 1994), retired Pastor of the Methodist Church, Hong Kong, and former Chaplain of Chung Chi College, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, passed away peacefully in the Lord on the afternoon of 15 July 2026 (Wednesday) at St. Teresa’s Hospital at the age of 96.
Rev. Lee served as Director of our Centre for twenty years. After stepping down from office, he continued to offer wholehearted support to the Centre and to care for younger scholars and students. He also actively participated in theological education. His contributions are too numerous and significant to be fully expressed in words. All members of the Centre mourn his passing deeply and remember with gratitude his outstanding contributions to the Centre over many years.
May the Lord Himself bring comfort and peace to Rev. Lee’s family and friends during this time of bereavement.
